Shekhawati region in my mind can be called a ‘regional level art district’ of Rajasthan, famous for its ‘Havelis’ with fresco paintings.
The architecture in these Havelis has very distinctive Victorian features blending in with the traditional Rajasthani style, but in some of these beautiful structures the Victorian style is predominant and we were lucky to spend a night in on such Haveli called the ‘Roop Niwas Kothi’ at Navalgarh one of the eight prominent towns in the Shekhawati region!
This was my third visit to this part of the state, and for the first time I noticed the best of nature’s artistic side while driving through this region – the granite outcrops reminded me of Henry Moore’s sculptures and these stones appear to be engaged in a conversation amongst themselves.
The sight of flowering ‘Kair’ – a local shrub, breaks all the rules of complimenting colours only to liven up the soul!
You have caught the essence of the place very well – both through words as well as visuals.
Thanks buddy!
